Project Items

Dimensions

Every project item starts with three basic dimensions:

  • Width: left to right
  • Length: front to back
  • Height: bottom to top

The small cube diagram next to the fields is a quick reminder of which dimension maps to which direction, so you don’t have to guess while you’re editing.

Scale (Proportional Lock)

Next to the dimensions you’ll see a lock icon. When the lock is enabled, changing one dimension will update the other two proportionally—basically scaling the item up or down while keeping the same shape.

This is useful when you like the overall proportions of an item and just want a bigger or smaller version without redoing the design.

Keep Finger Count on Resize

If you read the help section on Fingers, you may recall the relationship between finger counts and finger sizing, In reality, there isnt a finger count, the count is just the dimension (width for example) divided by the finger size, which produces a finger count. If you would like your item to maintain the finger count on resize, check this box before resizing, conversely, if you'd like the item to maintain the finger size (to match say the width), uncheck this box before resizing.

Relative Position on Resize

If you've set any of your parts to "Absolute Position" you may consider using the "All parts to relative" option in the Parts Menu before changin any dimension. For example, if you have a 100x100x100 item, and you would like it to be 100x100x150, but a top part is currently set to absolute position, changing the height would leave the top at 100mm. By selecting this checkbox, you are telling GCrafter to reset that part to y = 100%, so that when you enter the new height dimension, the top will move to 150mm.
